Lee Hyori for Clio: Killer eye liner?

I know this is not really new, but it was today that I managed to update myself on Lee Hyori's latest projects. She's recently involved with a Korean cosmetics brand Clio. She has shot an ad for one of their products called "Waterproof pen liner Kill Black" and she once again proved that she's still one hot diva at age 31. In only two weeks after the launch, 50.000 eye liners were sold and people are starting to call it "Lee Hyori eye liner" (source). See the famous TV ad:

She definitely looks hot in the video, I love the heels, the way she tears the dress and everything... but I feel the eye liner is too strong. Somehow it doesn't suit her so well. I liked it more, when she uses a more discreet eye makeup. I think generally she doesn't need a lot of makeup, because she has that girl next door appeal. She looks better when she smiles than when she tries to be a vamp. I liked her more in the video on the right. But then again, that's just me, someone who's known to have no fashion sense.

What do you think? Is the way she lines her eyes hot? Or too strong? If you're a woman, would you do it this way, too? If you're a guy, would you like your girlfriend do it like Hyori here?

I think she's beautiful even without the eyeliner. Somehow, the lighting in that ad/video makes it all come together, but it's not something you'd wear thickly during daytime. at nighttime, maybe. and expertly, because if one doesn't practice, it'll look fake. :-) cute post.

@Sonia: Well said. I like her more with the eyeliner, too. But maybe she looks great in real, but on pics I think it looks a bit over the top.

MKL, I agree, she looks better in the small video. For daytime is too strong a makeup. But Lee Hyori is a beautiful woman anyhow :)

I'm loving those cat eyes, it's pretty hot! and well i mean it's for photos so it's fine to wear that much make up, but unless you're going out with girlfriends for a night of clubbing it's a bit much on regular basis

She is soooo pretty! With or without eye liner I think she is still pretty. But I would also love to learn how to do that kind of eye make up. =)

@Lily: Yes, she's funny :)

@Traveling Hawk: Yes, it's a bit too strong for daily use.

@Julie: I'm waiting for you to do some Hyori style eyes :)

@Mel: She's always pretty, yeah. Try to learn and post a pic :)

I can't see the video because I'm at work.

Anyway, I'm not really into heavy eyeliners. I may use just a little bit on each eye but not too much. I do use heavy eyeshadows though (on certain occasions) but never heavy eyeliners.

hmmmm... the eye liner is hot but at the same time, it's not something you'd wear everyday. I guess i'm thinking more like a practical person. hahaha! I agree with you that it's a bit too strong for my liking... my fiancee would probably say the same way. He likes girls with make-up... but only when it's discreet and still looks natural, not overdone!

i'm laughing over here because these commercials look JUST like ours for maybelline and loreal lol is she an actress? i guess i could look her up!

i love eyeliner, i always play with it. i think everyone looks good in a cat eye...if my guy doesn't like it, too bad!

There's a difference between the sexes on the issue of makeup. Girls like to play with it and guys prefer girls au naturel or with minimal makeup. From what I've seen anyways. ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey!!! I'm still on vacation but have a few minutes to spare checking my internet and thought of dropping by to say hi :) How is everything?!
I don't think I wear eyeliner quite like that myself but there's a time and place for everything. She went easy on the eyeshadow and nothing strong on the lips so the makeup (professional) is done well. Makeup is like clothes, hair, shoes....even if a certain style looks good on you, doesn't mean you can't change it up once in a while and have fun. Strong eyeliner is fine if you can carry it well and do it once in a while or whenever you feel like it...it comes off at the end of the day right? :) But yeah, a lot of (good) guys I know prefer me also with less or no makeup, generally speaking

I love her flicked upward wing, but I wouldn't line my eyes the exact same way.. I'll keep my lower lashes line free, otherwise it'll smudge like crazy =[

She's beautiful without that eyeliner. They made it so strong probably just to emphasis on the product more (She's too beautiful and people might just look at her instead of her eyeliner..lol).

Somehow I prefer women in their all-natural beauty. You'll never know when those makeups will cheat u into believing they're THAT beautiful. With advanced make-up techniques nowadays, you'll never recognize that person once she removes her makeup! :D

she is very gorgeous, it highlights her eyes, but I think all around the eye is a bit too much. I would only apply the eyeliner on the upper lid.

@fufu: There is some evidence, that she probably has done something, but it wasn't big. Besides, I don't care, she's hot and feels great. That's all that counts :)

Nah, I don't think the eyeliner's too strong. But she does seem to look good even without it. I probably wouldn't do it on myself though. Just because it looks good on her doesn't necessarily mean it would look good on me.
