Now Americans know where Slovenia is
"Slovenia map" and "Where is Slovenia" topped Google search after yesterday's game
If you watched yesterday's soccer game between Slovenia and USA, you probably watched one of the best games of the tournament so far. Slovenia tied with USA 2:2 and played better than the American team throughout most parts of the game and probably surprising a lot of American viewers, who watched the game at home and didn't even know, where Slovenia is. Right after the game, "slovenia map" was one of the most searched phrases on Google USA, along with "where is Slovenia" and "location Slovenia". I remember that before the match, some American netizens teased us with Where is Slovenia, but after the game, the joke became a serious matter. One thing is for sure: Much more Americans now know where Slovenia is and I hope they will remember it well. This World Cup is really the best promotion we ever had for our small country. Hats down to our guys.

i expect this weeks google UK top searches will include,
"can we play that badly again and still hope to beat Slovenia?"
...whereupon the searcher will be re-directed to travel information giving immdeiate flight details back to the UK from South Africa!

PS: I'll watch Italy tomorrow... can't really miss it!

@Jo: Haha.. yes. More are coming. Looks like my English posts relating to Slovenia spiked a lot of interest. I'll keep blogging about WC for now :)
@adamantixx: Hahaha.. That's funny. It's a pity that Slo-Eng meet in such an important game. I'd really root for your team, but we can't lose this game, but your team needs to win. It will be tough. May the best team win, though :)
@Daisy: Yes, football is the best promotion for my country. Next time I travel around the world and people say where is Slovenia, I can say ask the American football coach, haha. Kidding. Happy to see you're watching tomorrow. I root for Italy, I hate to see them go home so fast, half of the women would stop watching soccer, because "i modelli" would go home :P Kidding. I wish they'd play as well as they look like :) Forza Italia, andiamo avanti! :)

Hahaha ... at least we Malaysians knew where is Slovenia. Hubby was so confident that Slovenia could beat USA.

@Wenny: Hehe.. yeah. It's a grat promotion. :)

The only player I like "physically" is Cannavaro and mostly because he's a wonderful defender... I am probably one of the few who's watching football for the sport! :DDDDD

I didn't get to watch the game! :( But my boyfriend said it was pretty good.
I also told him that I know someone from Slovenia :)
My new blog by the way: embracethelaughter.com
Hope to see you there :)

LMAO!

@Daisy: I just saw an Italian reporter on CNN saying Cannavaro should be out, he makes too many mistakes, but he only plays, because he's a hero from 2006. Do you agree?
@Rica: Haha.. many bloggers know me and the better Slovenia play, the more will spread the word about me, haha :P Thanks, I checked your blog out and subscribed :)
@cincere: :)

I LOVE HIM and without him Italy wouldn't have won 4 years ago. He usually is an excellent defender! really... BUT the last game I saw somehow proved that probably he's getting old... I mean... I could agree with the CNN reporter, but so many mistakes to be thrown out? mmm... there is no other like him at the moment... unfortunately... the thing is Buffon can't play and Buffon is only the keeper I know, but he usually motivates the player... that loss is significant. We'll see! ;-)

@Daisy: That reporter was from Italian TV giving comments on Italian team. I think your team will advance, they will win the last game. They didn't play great soccer so far, but they're a team, unlike France, that dropped out today.
June 23, 2010 12:25 AM
sorry I read "of" instead of "on"... :-) we'll see... I think if they do win is because (as always) they remember they're soccer players when things gets hard! ;-)
June 23, 2010 3:01 AM
PS: at work we already prepared the TV and on Thursday my colleague (who doesn't watch soccer) will answer the phone while we all will watch the game! :-DDD
June 23, 2010 3:08 AM
@Daisy: Yay! You can watch it, woohoo! Hope you'll have a great Thursday then :)
