My resolutions for 2010
Or the things I hope to accomplish in 2010.
Time flies! Wow! I can't believe how fast it goes. Do you also have that weird feeling where you're not really used to the new year? 2010. I can't relate to this number yet. Maybe because 2009 was so eventful and full of changes. And 2010 so far is just boring, cold and full of snow. And that's how I feel these days: Bored, empty, have no particular ideas what to do or what to say [or blog...].
And so I played around with Photoshop in my previous post and asked all of you, how you would interpret that image. Guess what, I had no idea what I was trying to say. I was so random. But I must say you guys were very creative and really inspired me with your interpretations. I liked the one from Adamantixx the most, when he said: Your blog began in a small and quiet way, the ? signifying your beginnings and each new stage sees you getting bigger, bolder and better! I do think that's part of blogging, beginning, growth and improvement! Yay! But if [*huge stress on if] my creation is art, then of course, it can have many interpretations, so all of you are right in your own way and get a big thank you from me. You guys are awesome [*also because such a random post generated comments, hehe].
But one of you seems to know me most. That's my friend Shirley. She totally nailed it, when she said: What I really really see, is a very bored Nino :P or a crazy one. not sure! It's amazing how well your readers can know you :-)

Ok, enough about that. I actually wanted to write my resolutions for 2010, since everyone's doing it. My friend Manju inspired me with her lovely post [here] and since I don't have any ideas, I decided to write about my hopes, dreams and plans for this year. Most of these things will happen, some may not, but that's ok. As many of you may know by now, I've met a wonderful girl last year and we've been chatting and getting to know each other for many months and eventually we fell in love. I plan to meet her next month [*romantic, huh?] in Taiwan, her homecountry, work there and be with her. So it's no surprise, that all my resolutions are related to her and that wonderful Asian country. Here's what I want to do this year:
✰ Fly to Taiwan, stay and work there the whole year.
✰ Do a good job and have a good and interesting life in Taipei.
✰ Have great new relationship with many happy moments.
✰ Make new friends and be accepted by my dear's parents.
✰ Travel across Taiwan, explore many parts of the country.
✰ Spend my 30th birthday on top of Taipei 101.
✰ Buy my own set of mahjong and find people to play with.
✰ Save money every month, even if just a little.
✰ Make my blog grow, keep current readers and attract new ones.
✰ Do a Vlog in Mandarin and also have more Taiwanese followers.
✰ Learn enough Mandarin to be able to have normal conversations.
✰ Try new food in Taiwan [stuff I never tried] and blog about it.
✰ Have a short trip to Tokyo [but that's probably gonna happen in 2011]
✰ One day watch movies all night and eat yummy food with my girl.
✰ Learn from past mistakes and be strong when facing criticism.
✰ Be able to say it was one of the best years of my life on Dec 31.
Wow, will I really be living in this awesome city?

How do you like my resolutions? :-)

All the best for 2010! A wonderful year, isn't it? You're going to meet your darling and start your new life over there. For sure, happy moments will be uncountable. TOO MUCH ALREADY and later have an adorable baby. I will become the Aunty Stefanie! :D :D :D
January 11, 2010 9:03 AM
@Stefanie: OMG, Stef!!! >__< Haha.. I don't know what to reply on your comment. Shall see, ok? :) First things first: I need a job and visa and then we shall see. I hope everything will be good, but I need to be careful, of course. Thanks a lot. You made me smile before sleep :P
January 11, 2010 9:06 AM
haha.. I agree with Stefanie, who knows you will meet your soulmate in Taiwan?? ^^
If you want to work in Taiwan, I do believe you have to master Chinese language well, it's a plus point to get a job there.. :) But I'm sure you can do it! ^^ just need a lot of practice, that's all!
Wishing all the best for you in 2010, great resolutions! :)

Hey Nino, I'm sure you have heard of famous Singaporean blogger Xiaxue. She's a great example of someone who got to know some angmoh from the Internet, fell in love, and the guy came over to live in Singapore, and he only recently proposed.
I will be in Taiwan in late April to early May. If time permits, maybe I will be able to even meet you. And we can converse in Mandarin. =p
Or maybe even play mahjong with you and your girl.
Good things are coming your way, bro. Because when you go the path less travelled, you gain insights that most people will never get.
Now smile! ^_^

By the way, the Taiwan gal don't happen to be Lily (the Taiwan babe who comments on your blog), right? =p
January 11, 2010 9:41 AM
@Cecile: Thank you so much, hehe.. I'm working on my Mandarin, but it's not the most important thing right now, because I want to be English and German teacher :)
@Shingo: Yea, shall see how things go, who knows, right? Anything's possible. But I'm taking it one step at a time. You will be able to read all about it here :)
Sure, that'll be fun, if we can meet. By that time I hope I will be able to find my way around Taipei. We'll keep in touch...
oh, btw, you guessed right :-)

January 11, 2010 9:50 AM
@Kym: As you can see, a big part of my blog is related to Asia, yea. I've travelled a lot there, so... kinda became part of me. And my Mandarin is very basic, hehe. I will learn more, when I'm there and I have to. I have a great teacher, who motivates me by laughing at my silly sentences :-)
January 11, 2010 9:54 AM
Your resolutions sounds fun. Good luck with learning Mandarin though! I've heard it's tough.

A woman having a clock is a Japanese.
Her setting is a shopping district of the Far East.
An expression is lovely.
The Taiwanese night view is splendid.
Greetings.
January 11, 2010 10:19 AM
I think you should be able to fulfil them without much of a hiccup! ;)
Incidentally I will be heading to stinky tofu and bubble-tea land soon enough myself. Heh~
January 11, 2010 10:55 AM
Bravo to that resolution to learn Mandarin. Let see how you go by the end of the year of 2010.
If you try some weird looking food, you'll have to post their photos okay? :)

YAYYYY TAIWAN IN THE WAY TO GO! I loveee going back to Taiwan. Great food, great DJs in clubs, great shopping, and all at a great price! LOL
yeah I used to like 24 too, but I find it really draining watching it from beginning to end, I saw season 2 and thought elisha cuthbert was an idiot! but then again if she wasn't getting kidnapped all the time 24 would just be 12. LOL!
January 12, 2010 12:22 AM

January 12, 2010 5:43 AM

January 12, 2010 7:43 PM
My granny has her own mahjong set. I never understood how to play it. Are you learning Mandarin from online? My mom wants me to learn Cantonese, actually they've wanted me to learn it since I was a little kid, but I dunno what happened. hehehehe. I'm sure by the 31st of December you'll be able to say to yourself, "hey, I accomplished a lot in 2010" =)
January 12, 2010 9:50 PM
mkl, hey am planning a taiwan trip in april/may too.... perhaps we can meet. i saw shingoT comment that he is going as well.... drop me a mail on the date u are traveling... i;ll coincide mine if possible, am flying air asia...
mandarin huh! not easy dude. i learnt for 18 years and still learning... but its an interesting language and once u know the history... china ctry will come next...
January 12, 2010 10:06 PM
I like the last one. Very much. I hope I'll say the same thing on 31 Dec 2010! :D
January 12, 2010 11:03 PM
@Superman: Yes, time flies. Thank you :)
@Mel: Mahjong is easy to play once you understand the rules. Best is, if the person can explain well, hehe. I learned Mandarin mostly in Malaysia, while living in my ex's family, who were Chinese. Asked and nagged people to explain, hehe. And so I could learn a lot. Hope everything will be fine on Dec 31. We'll see.. here.. on this blog :)
@Lily Riani: I will be there soon and hope to be in Taipei longer, so you can follow my blog and read about my time in Taiwan :) I plan to work there whole year.. I hope so.
@P.T.: I hope so :) We'll see after a year, hehe. Thanks for your comment and welcome here :)
January 13, 2010 2:07 AM

January 13, 2010 2:52 AM
Just a quick one:
DO THAT VLOG! :P
January 13, 2010 3:59 AM
@Ying Zi: Some time in the future I have a plan to go to Singapore and Malaysia, maybe in 2011, hehe. Shall see. I only have that much of time and money.
@Shirley: I will do the Vlog, when I'm confident enough to speak Mandarin. Maybe a greeting for my burrday? Hehe.. shall see :-)
January 13, 2010 4:48 AM
Good one! but you focus too much on your dear :)
Good luck with your resolution!!!!!
My resolution is in my head... its about business and nothing about romantic dinner on top of KLCC hahahahah
Any gals would totally puke to be with me ;)
Cheers
January 13, 2010 10:12 PM
when we meet, we should speak mandarin then :)
January 14, 2010 12:03 AM
@Netster: You're a good guy, come one! You can get many girls, maybe you're just choosy. Sing a song or send some flowers, they will be honey in your arms ;)
@Zewt: We can, but depends when we meet. If this year, we may have a hard time. If in 5 years, I may speak fluently. :) But it's all yet unknown... who knows, how everything goes.
