Kidnapping and murder near my house!
It was a sad sad day today. Willy was kidnapped and murdered. The suspect is unknown, but according to my investigation, he is a tom-cat between 2-10 years, sneaky, fast and merciless. He must have surprised our cat Pacha, while she was not paying attention to her newborn: Willy. [See photos below]

My sister managed to snap few pics of Willy today. Let me tell Willy's life story. Willy was 2 days old. All of his life he spent in a box. He was a single child. Because we gave his mum, Pacha, hormonal pills that prevent pregnancy, she probably lost the ability to get 4 or 5 kittens like usually. That's why she only had one kid: Willy. We wanted a cat few months ago, so mum skipped the pills for her. Soon a lot of tom-cats from neighbouring houses started to come and made her pregnant within a week. 3 months later Willy was born. That was on this Monday. We were so happy, because we wanted a male cat and Willy was male. And he looked so cool. The fur was unique: Dark brown on top, then striped on the belly with the color changing to light grey. I imagined how I will raise Willy, play with him, spoil him and cuddle with him... I love cats. We have two females, so another male would be perfect. Willy seemed perfect. But...
...kidnapping and murder occured near my house! Tonight! It started with gusty winds, then lightning and heavy rain. Suddenly I heard a scream through that heavy rain noise. I asked my mum what it was. I checked outside, it was the cats. OMG! First I thought it's our two cats fighting, but that seemed very odd. I had to check. I took a torchlight and went out. It was scary, because it was lightning near by and just a week ago a lightning struck near my house and shut my internet down for 1 week. I was brave. I was bold. I was stupid. But I had to check.
The crime scene was following: Pacha in distress and confused, Misha came around the corner in a sneaky pose. I shone some light in the box where Willy used to lay: It was empty! OMG, Willy is gone! I told my mum and sister. We went to check around the box and around the house. Willy was gone. I went further to the main road: No sign of Willy! When I came back, we started to blame each other about whose fault was it that Willy was gone. Our argument was pointless. Willy was gone and so were our hopes and dreams we put in the little guy. I told my mum that there is no real safety for a young cat here. Our cats are outside at night, danger is present all the time. I really don't know how Pacha couldn't secure and protect Willy. That sneaky little bastard who took Willy, I hope he's happy now. Mum said that tom-cats sometimes kill the babies so that the female would mate again. Well, you made a bad move, buddy. I think mum will put pacha back on the pills and you won't be able to empty your bean can in her bowl. And if I spot you sneaking around our house tomorrow, you can bet I will chase you like there is no tomorrow. You killed Willy! You escaped today, but there's always a tomorrow. I'll getcha, you betcha!
R.I.P. Willy. We didn't have enough time to become close, but you grew on me, Willy. I dedicated a whole post to you. Who does that, Willy? Who does that for a cat who was only 2 days old? I do. I do because I am a good person. And you will always and forever be rememebered, Willy! [Unless Blogger goes into bankrupcy and it's taken down.]

Wow. Now that's a shame. I remember how disappointed I was when one of our cats died. Mr. Muggles his name was. He was a good boy but he just got sick and didn't recover. He was only 3 months old, and we'd only had him for about a week. We felt pretty bad about that. I'm sorry to hear about Willy. Things happen for a reason though. Maybe there's another good cat around that will need a home...

You almost got me because there's indeed someone got kidnapped, raped, and killed in my neighborhood. Sadly it's someone I know. She was sending me facebook messages while I was back in Malaysia and suddenly she stop sending. I thought she was just on hiatus from online. But last week I got an email from the university to attend her funeral. I got really shock. I always think of her when I about to go to sleep. It's really sad.

@Tales, thanx for your nice words. Yea, it's a shame... We already lost a cat this year, he was 11 yrs old. When I returned from Asia, he was gone. It's funny how cats become part of your home. You're just used to them. Something's missing when they're gone, because each cat has a unique character and habits...
@Jerine, sorry to hear about your friend. That's a horrible story, I really have no approproate words. I just hope that time will heal your pain and that she will always be remembered. The person who did that to her, should rot in hell.

Thanks Rinaz..

@Jerine: Gotta remember to lock your doors and windows at night. Also, I'm beginning to wonder how I ever felt safe without bars on the windows...
@MKL: Maybe the cat got lonely because you were away and went out in search of you?

@Tales, did you know that Canadians don't lock their house doors? On the other hand you have Singapore, where the HDB blocks can look like prisons, bars are everywhere... Same goes for Malaysia.
Well, I moved on. I have to accept that Willy is gone. A new Willy will be born in 3 months. [Did you know that I call all newborn kittens Willy? Up to 1 month, after that they get a proper name. Willy is the ultimate cat default name for me]

@MKL: Once upon a time people didn't lock their houses in the US either. That's changed now.
Also, houses in the Philippines are usually covered with bars too, but surprisingly less so than in Singapore.

@Tales: Houses in Tasmania is made out of cardboards. Sadly I only a door with one latch. If someone strong hit on it, probably it'll crush. And I don't have walls. I only have glass walls. At anytime anyone could just smash the glass. I'm starting to worry

That's so horrible!! OMG! But at least it's an animal doing it. We don't really understand how or why. My family isn't allowed to keep pets since my mom's bunny died. lol.

Yea, it sucked! And now that cat, who killed Willy, comes every day and harrasses our cats. They were so noisy tonight, I couldn't sleep. Ahh, animals can be weird. Sorry to hear about your Mother's bunny loss.

A this makes me so sad! And I'm a dog person!
July 17, 2009 4:57 PM
Thanks, Carina :) I used to be a dog person when I was younger, but now I am a total cat person :)

I'm sorry about Willy. He was so cute. And what a cool name.
My older cat was one of the few kittens left out of his litter. I live in N. Ga. and around here the raccoons are the usual suspects. They took about 5 of our neighbors kittens before somebody finally spotted one in the middle of the night in the act of taking off with one. There was a male and a female. One was distracting the mother cat by fighting with her. The other crept up and took a kitten right out of its box. Then they both took off.
You should be careful, they kill adult cats as well. Try to keep them indoors at night if you can.
Sending warm, healing hugs your way.
mmmmmmmmmm
