Has Michael Jackson ended the Iranian uprising?

So, there we go. Unfortunately, I was right. My theory about the Iranian post-election protests was, that the regime will harden, tighten the security, put more police and military on the streets and sooner or later, there will be something else in the news. And now, Michael Jackson is dead: Who's following the Iran protests now? The momentum is lost, the media has now diverted it's focus and we will get less and less information out of Iran. Soon there will be summer holidays, we will all forget Iran and Michael Jackson and go to the sea side or pools, swimming and barbecueing and enjoying life. That's human nature! Nobody can convince me otherwise.

As I said many many times, if people in Iran, who want change, don't grab guns and start shooting back at those bastards in the riot police and defend themselves with equal means, nothing will change. Be real. Nothing will change and you know it. This brutal regime survived 30 years, you can bet it has means and measures to sustain itself. Peaceful protests won't do anything, the regime doesn't understand peace, it's ruthless and hateful. Stone throwing won't help either. You need to give the regime what it exports to other countries: Suicide bombers, martyrs, mujahedin. Give them a taste of their own medicine. Turn Tehran into Bagdad and they will see, if they still have that smirk on the face like they used to have, when USA couldn't secure Iraq.

But I guess all that won't happen. Now the media will only focus on Michael Jackson, they will go through all his ups and downs, scandals and medical conditions. Many celebs will share their opinions, even Barack Obama will be expected to say something. There will be a funeral, there will be non-stop reporting for at least 2-3 weeks. What will LaToya say? What will Janet say? What will Liz Taylor say? There's so much to come. It's a big shocker and of course Michael Jackson deserves the attention. He was one of the last big superstars, probably THE last superstar (Madonna is nothing comparing to him). So, it's understandable... But quite bad for Iranians. Bad timing, but as I said, even if Iran was the number 1 topic in the media, it still wouldn't make any difference.

Hmm, I'll avoid the popular internet attitude of "blah blah FLAME blah blah" and just politely say I disagree with the title to this entry if for the sole fact that it will help me sleep at night. MSM has just reaffirmed to me with this whole situation that it's useless. The level of attention that Twitter has been receiving proves to me that other people at least somewhat feel the same way. Hell, it took a day or two of the hash tag #CNNFail for CNN to even put Iran as a top story. That's pathetic for a so-called "news" outlet, wouldn't you agree? I, for one, will be following the Iran situation until the end, whatever that may be, and I'll be sure to bring it up in conversation as I usually do anyway.

I do, however unfortunately, agree with you on where I think the Iranians should take this next. The price of freedom is blood, but this regime just doesn't seem too worried about killing their own, the protesters, unfortunately, need to feel the same way.

@Gerald My title is a bit 'tabloid' style, I admit. But there is some truth in it, especially if you think how the Iraning gov. is cracking down on protests. Seems as the momentum is gone. I didn't understand why is it important that people on Twitter focus on these protests, because I think wheather we follow the situation in Iran or not, it's in the hands of Iranians. Nobody wants to intervene, especially not USA. And if it's not the USA, it's noone.
I will follow the situation, too. I'm interested in these things. But the vast majority is not. And now they will all focus on MJ until they get sick of his history and music... Anyway, there will be something new that the media will feed us with... another swine flu outbreak? Who knows... Yea, it's pathetic, how the news use Twitter more than going out, doing their own research. Basically they are no better than me, a simple blogger, who just shares his opinions. We're living in some very shallow times and that's my main point. I do wish Iranians to reform their country and succeed in their efforts. But I'm realistic.

@Anonymous, hahaha... thanks for that link. This is so silly in my eyes. Someone else already told me that they change their green photo (in support of Iran) with MJ pics. LOL. It's exactly how I said it... How pathetic.

You don't publish insults except your own I guess. Are you saying you don't care about Iran anymore /or just bored with it? If we do not learn from history we are doomed to repeat it. I hope you care more than it sounds. Does suffering only really matter today if it is our own? I am glad to hear Obama now more directly addressing what is happening in Iran.

@Anonymous, please tell me what was insulting and then I can defend myself or apologize. This is to vague and it's just allegations I will strongly reject.

You clearly haven't read my posts. I am not bored with it, but what's the point of Iran being top on Twitter and in the news? I said it many times, you people need to grab guns and defend yourselves. So why does it matter to you if the West has Iran in the news all the time? Why do we have to care? And what difference does it have if Obama adresses Iran directly or not? They will use every word he says against you the protesters and against America and we have to prevent the regime getting the nukes. That's our main concern. Now we saw: The regime is ruthless.

I do feel for you people, but I can only do so much. My limits are reached. If nothing significant happens, people will forget. That's how it is... if reality is insulting to you, then be insulted. I'm not the one who insulted any person.
