Jesus Christ and Hitler on Twitter!
Have you seen some people on Twitter who claim to be 'Jesus Christ' or 'God'? Well, sure, there will always be some crazy people who would do stuff like that... but more scary are the followers. Can you imagine a guy who calls himself 'God' has now over 16.000 followers? Who are these people? I'm sure at least one of them thinks that 'Good tweets from heaven'. That's crazy. 'Jesus Christ' has only 4900 followers. Then there's so many Hitlers. You just write Hitler under 'find people' and you get all kinds of crazy Hitlers. Should Twitter do something about that? It's open for debate. What will happen to Twitter next? Unfortunately all these things get regulated and restricted sooner or later, because money starts playing a huge role. They start advertizing, adding new gadgets - and then it gets boring. It loses the simplicity and charme it had in the beginning. Twitter, where are you going?

I met a guy when I was in the Army who was from Micronesia, an island chain in the Pacific Ocean, whose real name is Hitler Cantero. No joke. Apparently in his native language it's pronounced differently, but spelled the same. I told him his parents were still morons for naming him that, considering the spelling is the same as the oh-so-infamous Adolf Hitler. He was pissed off that I called his parents morons, and he was more pissed off that I used to call him Hitler all the time instead of pronouncing it the way it is in his native language.

I'm not twittering. I didn't facebook. I'm sure twittering will be old news within two years, and all these worries will have been for nothing.
But as for internet or communication control in general, I'm usually against it. In Germany, I'm even denied access to some wartime Bugs Bunny videos on youtube, when its about the Nazi era. Censorship is usually a stupid policy.
No next big thing from Silicon Valley is forever. But a good cartoon is.

I agree. I don't like censorship, unless there's a spammer posting on a forum, then I'm happy if he gets removed. Sometimes I get a comment from a Chinese spammer, who puts in his comments like 50 links to some websites. That's annyoing, that's why I have to be a moderator. But I wouldn't just not publish a comment beacuse it's opposite to my opinion. And same goes for so many things on the web. Some bits of society will always be crazy. That's why I guess we need to accept this reality and let Jesus and Hitler 'tweet', allow crazy people to do and say crazy things, unless it's breaking the law. I think everyone should say what he wants on internet. And mostly it happens. Censorship is more like an exception and it's very quickly spread over the blogosphere once it happens.

Every now and then I hit videos that are censored in Singapore. It's really annoying because apparently they're really funny, as they're part of posts on a humor blog I read. It's not that bad though. It's only happened to me three or four times, and I don't know if it's SG doing it or if it's only licensed for viewing in the US.

LOL its hillarious when people do stuff like that. Like slightly off topic i used to play Duke3D online and when you kill someone it says Killed By "Player Name". Some dude use to call himself God so when you killed him it would say Killed By God.
I dont think there is anyting wrong with it. In fact I am kinda sad I couldn't think of a cool name myself...

There was a similar thing in Dark Age of Camelot. If someone in the zone you were in was killed in PvP, it would say: XXXXX has been killed by XXXX as a zone message. People had all sorts of creative names like Famine, Disease, Waste, etc etc.
That is a bit off topic though. You can't really compare a video game with Twitter.
I suppose all it really shows is that there are people who view things from different perspectives. Either they're nuts and think it's real, know it's not real and think it's funny, or do it because they have a beef with religion.

Well, you can compare all these things like games, Twitter, forums... It's all one big crazy community where you have highly intelligent awsome people or totally stupid folks. It's like real life, just you can access all these things from your living room. No need to travel to the Bible belt or to Pyongyang or Karachi or Harajuku to experience some crazy stuff.

There are a lot of stupid people on the internet, but if there weren't, the internet wouldn't be even half as entertaining. Most of my laughs come from looking at the things stupid people do.
